Royal Bridal Bit in Mamuli Form 11559

Sumba

Bronze

19th Century or earlier

2 in/ 5 cm

An exceptionally "pure form" expression of a classical subject representing the female sex, this object probably served as an heirloom bridle bit for a chief's horse with similar comparisons to be found in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, gift of Robert Holmgren and Anita Spertus.
